Sulphur Beach Road session. Wind was light at first. Dropped down into Shoal Bay and had a few good runs from the Windsurf Shop to the northern motorway. Decided to head back into the harbour with the tide on the turn. Pointing high towards the motorway bridge approach discovered that even at high tide it doesn't pay to go too close to the motorway. Ooops!! Sailed too far over reef gybed and munted!! Sting II on a rock just below the water. Headed back out into the safety of deeper waters in the harbour. Eventually made it back upwind to the boat ramp. Average speed would have been higher with 28 venom. Had the whole Waitemata to myself apart from a couple of guys sailing in Shoal Bay.
